Job Opening: Electrical SCADA Technician

JOB OBJECTIVE: Design, install, program and test new electrical controls installations. Support and maintain electrical controllers and interface at power plants and substations, as well as other Easton Utilities departments. Write specifications for electrical purchases and assist in the repair of electrical controls facilities when needed. Test and calibrate protective relaying, metering and associated equipment. Install and troubleshoot electrical systems and interfaces.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must have training and experience in power plant and electric system operations. Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma and a valid Maryland driver’s license. Must have strong verbal and written communications skills to effectively work with employees and customers. Experience in designing, procuring, installing, programming and troubleshooting PLC, HMI and SCADA systems preferred. Knowledge of NESC and NFPA codes and standards also preferred. On call duty involved. Full time, exempt position.

Job Opening: Water & Wastewater Facilities Apprentice Operator I

Easton Utilities has an opening for a Water & Wastewater Facilities Apprentice Operator I. This person will perform operation and maintenance (O&M) tasks at the water supply, storage and treatment facilities, wastewater pumping stations, and wastewater treatment facility in order to provide superior quality water and wastewater services to the customer, protect the public health and water environment, maintain the infrastructure, and comply with all State and Federal regulations.

The qualified candidate must have a valid Maryland driver’s license and a high school diploma or the equivalent. This is an entry level position for a non-certified operator and has a maximum term of three years to obtain required certification, unless extended by EUC management. Employee must have basic computer skills, mechanical aptitude, good verbal communication skills, and ability to work well as part of a team. The job involves O&M of industrial equipment including but not limited to pumps and blowers, electric motors, motor control systems, mechanical screens, grinders, mixers, conveyors, mechanical drives, electronic sensors & meters, compressors, sand filters, water and wastewater tanks, sludge centrifuge and dryer, ultraviolet disinfection, chemical feed systems, valves, samplers, delicate analytical laboratory and in-situ equipment, SCADA system / computers, etc. In addition, O&M of mobile equipment (tractors, light trucks, etc.) and associated implements are required. Activities include a combination of indoor and outdoor work and working in confined spaces and high elevations. Also, driving, lifting, bending, digging, and climbing steps and ladders in all weather conditions. Must have sufficient pulmonary function to wear self-contained breathing apparatus. This is a full time, non-exempt position including a rotating on call schedule.

Job Opening: Apprentice Lineman

REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Electric Distribution Division

JOB OBJECTIVE: Install, maintain and repair overhead and underground cables and equipment required for the electric distribution system.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid Maryland Class A Restricted CDL driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within twelve months. Must possess the aptitude and attitude to safely learn the operation of underground and overhead electric distribution systems, cable handling and splicing, and read and understand engineering drawings and maps. Must be able to learn to operate derrick and bucket trucks, trenchers and associated tools and equipment. Must be capable of physical work that includes climbing utility poles and working in open trenches with tools and equipment while being exposed to hazardous conditions and extreme noise and weather. Must also possess a high level of situational awareness. Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Must successfully complete the North West Lineman College Online Apprentice Lineman program within five years of hire date. This is a full time non-exempt with on-call duty and overtime requirements. Must live within 15 miles of 219 N. Washington Street.

Job Opening: Assistant Supervisor, Easton Velocity Plant Operations

REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Easton Velocity Plant Operations

JOB OBJECTIVE: Assist Supervisor of Easton Velocity Plant Operations, in the day to day technical operations of the Easton Velocity cable plant to ensure the highest quality service

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must have well developed analytical, interpersonal and communications skills. Ability to lead crews to complete assigned projects. Ability to work under continual deadlines with exceptional attention to details necessary. Must possess a strong working knowledge of cable television systems, optical fiber transport systems, HFC and Fiber Nodes, conduit systems, etc. Must have 5-years’ experience as a Technician or equivalent. Knowledge and experience with electricity helpful. Must have good verbal communication skills, organizational skills and excellent customer service skills. Job involves tower climbing, lifting, and bending, in all weather conditions. Must have a valid MD driver’s license. Full time, non-exempt position. On call duty involved.
