PROGRAM OVERVIEW: This program provides selected candidates an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience in their field of study while employed within one of Easton Utilities’ departments or divisions. All applicants are required to submit a resume with their applications, and are encouraged to include cover letters, portfolios, and/or letters of recommendation. JOB DESCRIPTION: During their summer term, interns will work alongside coworkers to acquire the skills necessary to perform daily departmental tasks related to their degree or trade program. In conjunction with their daily responsibilities, they will attend a series of Lunch & Learns with facility tours to gain insight into the various departments and their operations. They will also be required to collaborate with their department manager to select a summer project worked through from start to finish. This project will require strict time management including the necessity to establish a project timeline, a feasible project scope, and finished product at the end of the summer term. Presentations will be conducted in the presence of staff and management.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be enrolled in a trade school or entering their Junior or Senior year of an accredited college or university
- Exceptions will be considered on a case by case basis
- Field of study must relate to one of Easton Utilities’ departments or divisions/li>
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- The ability to work and thrive within a team-oriented environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work a minimum of 24 hours, up to 40 hours per week
- Scheduled time off/vacation must be established and provided to HR prior to program start date
- All offers are contingent on a pre-employment drug test and background check
HIRING PROCESS: Apply online by March 31, 2025. Interviews will be held during the month of April with Easton Utilities’ HR department and the corresponding department supervisor and manager. At the conclusion of the summer term, all interns will be required to participate in an exit interview with Easton Utilities’ HR department.

Easton Utilities is currently seeking a Water Distribution & Wastewater Collections Operator for the Water and Wastewater Department.
HIRING RANGE: $19.19/hr. or higher depending upon experience
JOB OBJECTIVE: Performs operation, construction and maintenance tasks on the water distribution system and wastewater collection system in order to provide superior quality water and wastewater services to the customer. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with on-call requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge and experience with underground utilities or plumbing is helpful.
- Knowledge and experience with operating heavy equipment is helpful.
- Must have good verbal communication skills and ability to work well with the public.
- Must currently possess or obtain the Water Distribution Certification within 18 months of employment and must obtain the Wastewater Collection Certification within 30 months of employment.
- Must have a valid MD Class A CDL or the ability to obtain one within twelve months of hire date.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Job involves entering and working in permit required confined spaces, driving, operation of heavy equipment, lifting, bending, climbing, and digging in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to pass DOT physical.
- Must have sufficient pulmonary function to wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Easton Utilities is currently seeking a Journeyman Lineman for the Electric Department.
HIRING RANGE: $39.75/hr. or higher depending upon experience
JOB OBJECTIVE: Install and repair overhead and underground cables and equipment required for the electric distribution system. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with on-call and overtime requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Five (5) years' experience as an Apprentice Lineman and minimum two (2) years’ experience as a Journeyman Lineman required. Up to one year credit may be given for completing a formal on site Lineman Program with certification.
- Must know the operation of the electric distribution system, cable handling and splicing and able to read plans.
- Must know how to operate derrick and bucket trucks, trenchers and associated tools.
- Must have a valid MD Class A CDL.
- Must live within fifteen miles of 219 North Washington Street.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to pass DOT physical.
- Capable of physical work that includes climbing utility poles and working in open trenches with tools and equipment while being exposed to hazardous conditions and extreme noise and weather.
- Must wear proper PPE at all times.
MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform live line overhead line work on primary circuits.
- Perform dead line overhead line work.
- Install underground line and repair primary circuits.
- Perform overhead line work on secondary circuits.
- Install underground line on secondary circuits.
- Troubleshoot, locate, and repair problems on primary and secondary circuits.
- Oversee and be accountable for work done at job site.
- Take initial responsibility for truck and equipment.v
- Install and maintain streetlights.
- Maintain reasonable availability to come in and work when needed to repair the distribution system.
- Demonstrate the ability to safely oversee and provide training to apprentice lineman insuring proper procedures.
- Enhance the Electric Department’s service and productivity by providing support to other employees, filling in and completing other tasks as requested by your direct supervisor or the Electric Department Manager.
- Demonstrate skills proficiency through onsite testing. All new hires since May 2017 must have completed the Northwest Lineman College Power Delivery Program or equivalent accredited certification.
- Demonstrate ability to safely and efficiently climb utility poles and structures for repair and maintenance.
- Regular, reliable attendance is a requirement of this job.

Easton Utilities is currently seeking to fill the position of Industrial Electrician II/III
JOB OBJECTIVE: To maintain electrical equipment at Power Plants, Substations, Pump Stations, Wastewater Treatment Facilities, Wells, Solar Arrays, and other Easton Utilities Commission (EUC) facilities. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with on-call requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
For placement at Industrial Electrician II:
Hiring range $27.60/hr. or higher depending upon experience and qualifications.
- Total of three (3) to five (5) years related electrical experience.
- Must have a thorough working knowledge of electricity and electronics or equivalent electrical and electronics training.
- Must be familiar with the NEC, NESC, NETA, and NFPA 70 E standards.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Must have a good working knowledge of basic electricity and electronics or equivalent electrical and electronics training.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electronic schematics.
- Must know how to use electrical tools such as digital multimeters, and power supplies.
- Must be available as needed to provide technical support during electrical outages, generator startups, and weather-related emergencies.
- Must be able to work from heights such as ladders, towers, and other structures.
- Regular, reliable attendance is a requirement of this job.
- Must be familiar with the NESC and standards.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be part of an on-call rotation.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess certification in electrical technology, or have three years of related electrical experience.

- In addition to the requirements for Industrial Electrician II;
- Total of five(5) to seven (7) years related electrical experience.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the Installation, testing, and calibration of the electrical equipment and systems such as motors, pumps, VFDs, circuit breakers, transformers, metering, and transducers at power plants, substations, and other Easton Utilities locations.
- Must be able to test and calibrate electrical equipment, protective relaying, metering, and transducers at the power plants and substations.
- Must be able to Install, program, and troubleshoot PLCs, and SCADA systems.
- Must be able to Install and troubleshoot electrical systems and interfaces.
Candidates with either a Journeyman or Master Electrician’s license preferred, but not required.

Easton Utilities is currently seeking to fill the position of Instrument and Controls Technician II/III
JOB OBJECTIVE: Under minimal supervision, work on the design, installation, programming, and testing of new electrical utility installations. Support and maintain existing electrical and control-type equipment at power plants, substations, EUC facilities, and the Town of Easton. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with on-call requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
For placement at Instrument and Controls Technician II:
Hiring range $33.12/hr. or higher depending upon experience and qualifications.
- Thorough knowledge of electricity, and Microsoft Office products.
- Must possess good communication skills to effectively work with internal and external departmental customers.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of logic functions, computer programing, such as C++, communication protocols, such as Modbus, and various software platforms like Modicon for PLCs.
- Must know how to use electrical tools such as digital multimeters, power supplies, and frequency generators.
- Must be able to install, troubleshoot, and repair single-phase and three-phase electrical motors, motor control circuits, lighting circuits, and other associated electrical equipment.
- Must be able to read electrical schematics, prints, three-phase diagrams, wiring diagrams, and one-line diagrams.
- Must be available as needed to provide technical support during electrical outages, generator startups, and weather-related emergencies.
- Must know all electrical equipment rated 72.5KV and below.
- Must know NESC, NETA, and NFPA codes and standards.
- Must always wear proper PPE.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must maintain regular, and reliable attendance.
- Must be part of an on-call rotation.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Four (4) years of experience in power plant and/or electric system. Associate in applied science (AAS) in electrical technology operations preferred and can be substituted year for year for the required experience.
For placement at Instrument and Controls Technician III:
Hiring range $36.28/hr. or higher depending upon experience and qualifications.
- In addition to the requirements for Instrument and Controls Technician II;
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience in power plant and/or electric system. Associate in applied science (AAS) in electrical technology operations preferred and can be substituted year for year for the required experience.
