For placement at the Civil Engineer I position:
ANNUAL SALARY: $92,742.00 or higher depending upon experience and credentials
JOB OBJECTIVE: To perform engineering functions for Easton Utilities’ projects including planning, design and overseeing construction and maintenance of structures and facilities. This is a full-time, exempt position.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have construction experience, preferably in all utility departments.
- Must have project administration skills including public relations, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Four-year college degree from an ABET accredited Engineering college and EIT required.
- Must have PE within five years of hire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have the physical capabilities to be actively involved in construction projects.

HIRING RANGE: Annual Salary of $111,291 or higher depending upon experience and credentials
JOB OBJECTIVE: Design, coordinate and test new electrical utility installations. Support existing generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure and provide future electrical assessments. Write specifications for electrical purchases and assist in the repair of electrical facilities when needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum four (4) year experience in power plant, transmission and distribution electric system design and operation.
- Maryland Professional Engineer License required.
- Good communications skills to effectively work with department employees as well as internal and external customers.
- Must be able to assist when needed with restoration efforts in extreme weather conditions.
- Familiarity with equipment rated to 69KV, including outdoor substations and medium voltage switchgear.

Gas Operations Technician Trainee
HIRING RANGE: $19.65/hr. or higher depending upon experience
JOB OBJECTIVE: Provide Easton Utilities gas customers with dependable and consistent quality service through the construction and maintenance of Easton Utilities natural gas distribution pipeline system, regulators and customer service lines. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with on-call requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Good verbal communication skills and ability to work well with customers, contractors, and fellow employees.
- Knowledge of basic report preparation, ability to do arithmetic calculations, knowledge of computers and computer operating systems.
- Ability to understand construction drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to operate backhoe, mini-excavator, air compressors, and related construction equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and directions.
- Maintain a neat appearance.
- May require the need to work more than an 8-hour day.
- Must possess valid CDL Class A or the ability to obtain one within six months of hire date.

Instrument & Controls Technician
PAY RATE: $28.27 per hour or higher depending upon experience
JOB OBJECTIVE: Design, install, program, and test new electrical utility installations. Support and maintain electrical equipment at power plants, substations, other Easton Utilities departments, and the Town of Easton. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with on-call requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to write specifications for electrical purchases and assist in the repair of electrical facilities when needed.
- Ability to test and calibrate protective relaying, metering and associated equipment.
- Install and troubleshoot electrical systems and interfaces.
- Knowledge of AAS and/or experience in power plant and electric system operation.
- Must have good communication skills to effectively work with department employees and customers.
- Have familiarity with electrical equipment rated to 72.5KV and below.
- Ability to install, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.

MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provide technical support for upgrades and maintenance involving power generation, electric and gas transmission, substation and distribution.

Apprentice Water Dist. & Wastewater Collections Operator I
HIRING RANGE: $21.50/hr. or higher depending upon experience
JOB OBJECTIVE: Perform operation and maintenance tasks on the water distribution system and wastewater collection system in order to provide superior quality water and wastewater services to the customer. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with on-call requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge and experience with underground utilities or plumbing is helpful.
- Knowledge and experience with operating heavy equipment is helpful.
- Must have good verbal communication skills and ability to work well with the public.
- Ability to obtain the Water Distribution Certification within 18 months of employment and the Wastewater Collection Certification within 30 months of employment.
- A valid MD Class A CDL or the ability to obtain one within twelve months of hire date.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: A high school diploma or equivalent.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Job involves entering and working in permit required confined spaces, driving, operation of heavy equipment, lifting, bending, climbing and digging in all weather conditions.

MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Work under general supervision in the installation and maintenance of electrical lighting, outlets, breakers, panels, conduit and wiring for new and existing electrical equipment.
