Kaitlin Foster-Clark

Jr. Staff Accountant

How long have you worked for Easton Utilities?

I have been working at Easton Utilities for three years.

Describe your job history at EU.

As a member of the accounting team, I assist in providing accurate and timely financial information to management and regulatory bodies of EU. I was originally hired as General Accounting Clerk I in December 2016 to handle a variety of accounting tasks, including accounts payable and maintaining vendor accounts. As Junior Accountant, I complete various account reconciliations, monthly and quarterly tax filings, various adjusting entries to inventory accounts, and assist in accounting for water and wastewater jobs. I also offer additional support during the forecast process and the annual external audit.

What is your favorite part of your job and working for EU?

Getting to work with an excellent group of men and women each day is my favorite part of my job and working for EU. We are a team, and everyone provides the encouragement and support necessary to excel professionally for the benefit of one another, our customers, and our community.

What EU tradition is your favorite and why?

My favorite EU tradition is the annual picnic because it is an opportunity to relax and bond on a more personal level with my co-workers. It allows my family a glimpse into why I am so happy working for EU. Plus, I love seeing my son have a blast with the other kids, enjoying the face painting and bounce house.

How do you feel EU positively impacts the community?

Over my years on the EU team, I have witnessed EU go above and beyond to support the community’s residents, organizations, and environment. In addition to providing donations and monetary support for local events, EU encourages active participation from its employees. Whether it be our annual tree planting, providing a few extra sets of hands to Habitat for Humanity, offering free WiFi hotspots during the COVID-19 emergency, reading with Ms. Fairbank’s 1st graders at Easton Elementary School, selling tickets at the Waterfowl Festival, or one of the many other opportunities and instances, the EU team makes supporting the community a priority.

Describe your life outside of work.

Currently, my life outside of EU involves juggling schoolwork to earn my Master’s in Accounting and spending time with family. My husband, son, and I enjoy taking walks and going on bike rides together. I also like to attend Talbot County Young Professionals’ meetings and events when time allows.

Describe the members of your family and any pets.

My husband is a chemist at a laboratory in Easton, MD. We have been married for 6 years and spend most of our time outside of work with our energetic 7-year-old son and our affectionate dog, Lizzie. Our son is a student at Easton Elementary School and enjoys participating in sports through the YMCA.

What plans do you have for the future?

By September 2020, I expect to have completed the necessary classes to earn my Master’s in Accounting. I then plan to start studying and taking the necessary exams to eventually earn my Certified Public Accountant license. Still, more generally, I hope to expand my participation in community events and organizations as I further my career in the accounting profession.
