Staff Accountant I

How long have you worked for Easton Utilities?

Five years in June 2024

Describe your job history at EU.

I started in the Accounts Payable Clerk position in 2019. In the fall of 2023 I applied for a Staff Accountant opening and took that position in September 2023.

What is your favorite part of your job and working for EU?

I had the same job before EUC for 37 years and never thought I was leaving. Joining EUC has provided me a wonderful work environment. I work with good people in a great facility. Employees are well taken care of at EUC whether it be professionally, or personally. I enjoy the comradery in my department and everyone I come in contact with during the work day. I can’t say enough how much I enjoy the environment here at EUC each and every day!!

During your service with EU, is there one key moment that stands out as significant or unique?

It was actually the day I got the call that I got the job as the Accounts Payable Clerk. I knew good things were ahead and I was very excited to become a part of the EUC family. Applying here was one of the best decisions I could have made.

What EU tradition is your favorite and why?

I like any of the traditions that get the whole company together. We know names and faces, but it’s fun to interact with people we just see sporadically. The paper airplane team bonding at MEBA this past year was a really fun way to interact with other departments.

How do you feel EU positively impacts the community?

EUC has a reputation for quality and commitment within the community. This can be seen through all the groups and activities that actively work besides EUC to bring support and engagement to community groups and events.

Describe your life outside of work.

When not at work, I like to do needlework, crochet, read books, and enjoy time with my family. In the spring I am a college softball enthusiast and enjoy watching all the games I can find on tv. I also enjoy baking— and bringing my treats in to feed my EUC friends. I especially enjoy in person or FaceTime visits with my 2 grandchildren, Gannon and Sophia.

Describe the members of your family and any pets.

My husband Alan is at home with me and I live with my brother Marion. My daughter Sarah is a Cardiac ICU Director at Medstar Hospital in DC. My son William is a chef at the Four Seasons, Oahu, Hawaii.

What plans do you have for the future?

According to my countdown calendar, I retire in 4,099 days! So, until that time, I plan to spend as much time as I can with my grandkids, my daughter Sarah, and more trips to Hawaii to see my son and his family.

Anything else interesting you’d like to share?

The color pink and anything that sparkles are a few of my favorite things!
