Bryan Baynard

Lead Meter Technician

How long have you been with Easton Utilities?

20 years, all with the Meter Department. When I first started as a Meter Tech Trainee we would have to walk the streets, visually ‘reading’ the meters.

What does “a day in the life” look like for you?

A typical day will consist of looking through our computer system for jobs that need to be dispatched, testing, installing and changing meters, inventory control, and much more.

What is your favorite part about working at EU?

I enjoy collaborating with other departments and getting to know all my coworkers. Many have become close friends over the years.

Is there one key moment that stands out as significant or unique during your career at EU?

The time that really stands out to me was the blizzard of 2009/2010. We had to walk around town and get visual readings during the blizzard. Not a single meter was estimated- we made sure the customer got an accurate bill.

How do you feel what you do at EU positively impacts the community?

I enjoy working with and troubleshooting for our customers to ensure a positive experience and end result for them. Also, Easton Utilities makes it possible to give back to my community through volunteer opportunities, such as the Festival of Trees tree wrapping, for one example of many.

Describe your life outside of work.

I enjoy hunting and fishing. My wife and I have two children, a 16-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter. Our son, the 16-year-old, will be an intern at Easton Velocity this summer. We have also been a licensed resource home with Talbot DSS for 7 years.

What plans do you have for the future?

I hope to continue to make a big impact in the meter department with increased leadership.
